The story of one of the most influential female entertainers of the 20th century, Josephine Baker, will be taken to the screen â and not for the first time. Academy Award-nominee Ruth Negga will star in the titular role and will also be an executive producer on the limited drama series,
Josephine.
Baker, who really hit her stride as the Roaring Twenties took shape, left an indelible mark on culture as a true force of nature. She is not simply remembered as a legendary entertainer, dancer and style maven â but as a spy for the French Resistance during WW2 and later, as an American Civil Rights activist.
