The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has decided to reduce the GST on millet flour food preparations from 18% to 5%. The fitment committee of the GST Council had previously recommended the exemption for powdered millets but had refused to provide incentives for prepared produce made from millet. India is focusing on promoting the production and consumption of millets in 2023.
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) council will meet to discuss various topics including exemption on GST on powdered millets, extending concessional rates on vehicles for visually impaired persons, and taxability on corporate and bank guarantees. The fitment committee is expected to exempt certain services supplied to government authorities and relax eligibility criteria on the Appellate tribunals.
