The other intriguing thing that happened today was about sealed testimony about some rick gates testimony that could have to do with an investigation that is still ongoing. When we consider what investigations are still ongoing that rick gates might have to do with, were looking at the larger special counsel investigation into the russia probe. What do you make of that testimony being put under seal by the judge . Well, that came after an objection when the defense asked rick gates if he was asked questions by the fbi about his role in the Trump Campaign. And so at that point there was this sidebar where no doubt they discussed the scope of rick gates cooperation. you know, this change to the public charge rule is very much in keeping with the mean spiritedness that really permeates all of the president s policy on immigration. and as you point out in this area, it s not really a problem. this is part of an ideological shift. we have to remember that miller doesn t come to immigration with enormous practical experience or policy work in the area. he is primarily an ideologue so this is part of the trend of continuing to restrict not just immigrants who come without legal status but also legal immigration. it is dangerous and surprisingly short-sighted. you were asking about schools in alabama which is a head count state. that means it s federal funding for education based on the count of kids in the classroom when immigrant kids and the children of migrants didn t go to school in alabama because of its bill, funding dropped dramatically and it was sort of a way of, you know, cutting off your nose to spite your own face.

With stephen miller and that rushed out ban on muslims. reportedly crafted this thing without running it through the legal checks. when congress was working towards negotiating immigration reform, which donald trump claims this week he wants action on, well, even republican senators took the rare step by calling out miller as a staffer by name. as long as stephen miller is in charge of negotiating immigration, we re going nowhere. going nowhere. now, other observers say miller doesn t mind these critiques or he may even relish them because he s nut interested in traditional public interest policymaking. they argue like kind of like steve bannon he actually views policy as kind of a spectacle, no matter who gets hurt. some have written he sees a value in constructive controversy, which he thinks will bring enlightenment. miller used a combative trolling
