For more than seven decades, the heritage-listed Boot Factory building in the heart of Bondi Junction hummed with industry as workers crafted shoes to be sold at high-end retailers including David Jones.
Monday marks the start of a $5.3 million project to turn the Waverley areaâs sole remnant of 19th century industrial architecture into a âcivic innovation hubâ to be used by the council and community.
Work is under way to transform the Boot Factory on Spring Street into a community centre.
