The top generals of South Korea and the United States on Sunday reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering their countries combined defense posture as they met in Seoul for their annual meeting, the South s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.
South Korea s Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Kim Seung-kyum met with senior U.S. commanders to discuss measures to beef up security and strategic cooperation on the Korean Peninsula, including the U.S. provision of extended deterrence, the JCS said on Saturday.
South Korea s top military officer left for Washington on Tuesday for talks with his U.S. and Japanese counterparts, officials here said, as the three sides seek to boost security cooperation against evolving North Korean threats.
