The warm, spring-like sunshine that has bathed the West Coast in recent days will give way to rain and snow showers this weekend, forecasters say.
A change in the weather pattern late in the week will bring cooler temperatures and a chance for rain or snow showers, especially over the mountains Friday and Saturday., according to the National Weather Service
A cooler and unsettled weather pattern will persist next week with several weather systems passing over the Pacific Northwest and possibly Northern California, according to the agency.
In the Northwest, a storm Sunday and Monday will be followed by partly cloudy skies on Tuesday in Seattle and Portland, then another system will roll in later in the week, according to local media forecasts.

Will it snow in Portland next week? Maybe
Updated Jan 21, 2021;
Well, allow yourself to feel it, if only a little.
“There is a possibility of snow,” said Miles Higa, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland.
Higa said that next week, cooler air is in the forecast, and once that cold air is here, anything could happen.
“Models all over the place,” Higa said, adding the likelihood that snow will make it to the valley floor is “not likely but there’s a chance.”
But, he said, starting Monday, “It will probably be cool enough to support having snow.”

SALEM, Ore. (AP) Heavy rains are expected in western Oregon this weekend, including in areas burned by this fall’s wildfires, raising the possibility of mudslides and flooding.
The Willamette Valley could see 1 to 3 inches of rain and the Santiam Canyon which has unstable soils from September’s wildfires could see 3 to 5 inches of rain. The coast could see 4 to 6 inches and the higher elevations of the Cascade Mountains could get up to 9 inches of precipitation, National Weather Service meteorologist Miles Higa told the Statesman-Journal.
