One of the most dazzling parts of the holiday season is being able to see the light displays that cities have to offer. And New Hampton’s ‘Little Light of Mine’ lighting display in Mikkelson Park truly encapsulates the spirit of the holidays.
Lisa Pool started ‘Little Light of Mine’ 4 years ago after tragic circumstances hit her family.
This light display didn’t start as grand as it is today. Pool says the first year she just wanted to light up the bench in Mikkelson Park that memorializes her son. From there, the community expanded it to incorporate the whole park and even the bandstand.

This weekend New Hampton’s night sky will be filled with dazzling fireworks.
In celebration of the upcoming holiday, Little Light of Mine will be putting on a free firework show this Saturday at 6 p.m. in Mikkelson Park. This event is being put on by the same people who put on the Heartland Days fireworks display (though expect a smaller budget).
The event is also promising that Santa and skating will be involved as well. The Facebook post reads:
“Enjoy a night of fireworks under the stars and among the Christmas lights, while telling Santa your wish list or ice skating in front of the Bandshell. It will be a night to remember.”
