Nehawu in Eastern Cape welcomes Gomba’s axing Updated

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) in the Eastern Cape has welcomed the axing of the province’s Health MEC Sindiswa Gomba.

Gomba has been axed by Premier Lubabalo Mabuyane after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) charged her with graft relating to former president Nelson Mandela’s funeral.
Nehawu s Secretary Miki Jaceni said the labour union has always said the department must be run by some who is focused.
It needs somebody who can focus, somebody who has requisite understanding in terms of the qualification, in terms of the skills and everything else.

JOHANNESBURG – The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) in the Eastern Cape wants Health MEC Sindiswa Gomba to be relieved of her government duties until her criminal case has been finalised.
Gomba appeared in court on Friday and was released on bail on the same day.
As healthcare workers prepare for the arrival of the Covid-19 vaccine, the Eastern Cape is still verifying vaccination sites, which could delay the inoculation process until April
