Am hearing it may be closer to 9 pm or 10 pm tonight. 2 of the 4 westbound lanes are closed and it has been like that since early this morning. The commute from the valley to livermore was rough. Slow, very slow. It has been painful. The problem happened shortly before 3 pm this morning when this huge pothole opened up just before the greenville exit, about 15 cars got flat tires running over it. Repairing the pothole required caltrans to close 2 of the for code lanes and the misery began for drivers, traffic backed up some 12 miles to highway five back. It is now almost 1230 and i am really late. One man was late for an appointment at the hospital. It has been almost 3 hours. How long should the drive take . About 40 minutes. They say the rain is mostly to blame for all the recent potholes. It actually squeeze the water into the asphalt and the repeated squeezing of the asphalt caused it to break apart.
