SPRING VALLEY
Chula Vista Fire Chief Harry Muns and Spring Valley resident Christopher M. Pierce were appointed Thursday to the San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District governing board.
Both were chosen unanimously in 5-0 votes at a special meeting and will serve through November 2022.
Seven candidates had been seeking the seats since two of the board members moved out of the area in June.
The remaining members of the board decided last month to appoint directors rather than spend money on a special election.

The San Miguel Fire district board oversees a nearly $23 million annual budget and its revenue comes primarily from property taxes.
