Family-owned Nelson business Can Plan is seeking clearance from the Commerce Commission to buy the waste collection assets of Betta Bins from Nelson City Council-owned Nelmac Ltd. In its clearance application, rubbish collection business Can Plan says it wants to acquire Betta Bins to increase its scale so that it is in the “best position to compete with national/international waste collection companies like Smart [Environmental], Waste Management, EnviroWaste that control over 75 per cent of waste collection services in this country”.
