instability in egypt, you have an unsecure southern flank. so it s a whole new equation for the israelis. we were in an israeli general last night. he was highlighting that risk. not only the risk of perhaps an egyptian attack over time if they come under muslim brotherhood, but more near term. we have an unsecure flank which is right on the edge of gaza strip you recall. that provides a line of communication for terrorists to support gaza and all the missiles that come into israel over time that we know about. and then secondly, it s an ungoverned territory. it allows for sanctuary for terrorists. it allows for lines of communication of bad guys. now, what we want to do is secure that southern flank again. and the egyptians, because of this good relationship with israel, have agreed to put 800 troops on the border temporarily to stabilize that border on the southern flank of israel. mike: general, we are almost out of time. i have got to ask this question
speech. we also understand with freedom of speech there comes other responsibilities. i want to tell you a little bit of tahrir square. it s a little divided. someone like me is satisfied with what we have been able to achieve as i believe we have gone a long way. but there are still others who won t budge. i would like to reference thomas jefferson in matters of style swim with the current. it matters in principle stand like a rock. that s what the people in the square believe in now. they have no trust in the current government or in president hosni mubarak. they want him to be removed and then they want to seat whole parliament dissolved. mike: omar, let me ask you, this is the only president that you have ever known in your life. he has been there 30 years. yet, i understand that while you want him to go, you recognize there needs to be a peaceful transition. what does that mean for you? what time frame do you feel most people are willing to accept for
that they won t suck seat that the military apparatus is so big and strong and determined that in the end the muslim brotherhood will not succeed. it s praction. we will all watch with fascination and see what happens in the next weeks and months. mike: daniel, i hope you are right. i think that the muslim brotherhood gaining any foot hold of power in any country and especially in egypt where they were originated would be devastating for the peace of egypt and, frankly, the peace of the middle east. i do want to follow up with one other concern though. the muslim brotherhood. we know their insidious dangers from the past. why did president obama invite them to their speech cairo in 2009. what legitimacy did they have that would have given them that level of credibility to be invited? everyone agrees with someone like osama bin laden who is violent jihadi, he is our enemy.
the streets to allow egypt to evolve toward a more democratic society with greater respect for human rights. these are the questions and there are numerous uncertainties about all of these matters. be. mike: aaron, you have made comments that a pro-democracy-type egypt could actually mean a more anti-u.s., anti-u.s. israel stance on the part of egypt. why would that be the case? well, the logic chain is very clear. in a society, a society like ours, for example, where government is accountable, where we have a constitutional that secures and guarantees rights, there is a diverse amount of opinion reflected in chosen representatives and in the policies of those we choose through elections to govern us. in egypt, if the system is now open, there is no question that you are going to get a diversity
iran s quest for a weapon and egypt s. it would really be a disaster. make make aaron miller, thank you very much. my pleasure. mike: journalists from all over the world, including our own fox news colleagues greg palkot and photographer olaf wig have been attacked by protesters in the streets of cairo. i will talk to steve harrigan and israeli cameraman who was just in egypt. we will talk about the danger surrounding reporters who are assigned to cover a conflict. you need website develoent, 1-on-1 marketing advice, search-engine marketing, and direct mail. yellowbook s got all of that. yellowbook360 s got a whole spectrum of tools. tools that are going to spark some real connections. visit yellowbook360.com and go beyond yellow.
