obamacare is exceedingly popular. i think a lot of the candidates were attacking the obama legacy last night will pay for that. i think as the dynamic of this race changes, it s only going to solidify biden s place has the front-runner. i think there will be a lot more talk about the obama legacy. you know, what they managed to do last night is tie biden to it, even more. and i m sure he s going to say, you know, throw me into that briar patch. that sounded terrific. mike, we had cameras at watch parties kind of taking this all in talking to democrats watching the debates. i want to show you a little bit of what a couple of them had to say about how joe biden did. take a look. those people who are going to vote for him will continue to support him. because it s not about everything you say on the stage. you know the person has the experience. you know about them having
integrity. that s what we re going to need. i was impressed. i think he did a very good job. i think he came out strong and he stayed consistent. he was able to defend the volleys from harris. he also i thought he had a good rebuttal for kirsten gillibrand. mike, this may be another example of the biden campaign is saying all along they see a slightly different democratic party than just the liberal base that oftentimes is on top of the conversation on twitter. and perhaps they re also right to say, hey, it s just one debate, there are much other forces at work here. what s your take? yeah, that s absolutely right. one of the other points that biden made today in that conversation with reporters was that, listen, he understands that there are going to be attacks on his record. he s willing to give it as much as he was willing to take it. he said, this game, as he called
and therefore take the fight to donald trump, if necessary. what s interesting, kasie, we had that long gaggle with him after he made a local stop here. i ve observed he uses these as an opportunity to get points across that he didn t maybe have in the debate. one, of course, today, he took the opportunity to say as quickly as possible to defend obama s record. he said, listen, i hope in the next debate we spend more time talking about what trump has done wrong than putting this at the feet of president obama. and he said, you played the sound, there was nothing moderate about the affordable care act. saying he can win a state like michigan because he believes not just because the democratic party is more aligned with him than some of the new progressive voices. those are the points that the vice president managed to get across in the follow-up gaggle today. mike, you referenced where he said malarkey, i actually felt that was the end of a very strong moment for him in the debate las
together. what we saw yesterday was nancy pelosi on the floor heroically for eight hours, but taking a position that contradicted the position that chuck schumer had just taken in negotiating a compromise with mitch mcconnell, which is going to be voted on today. somebody had to cover and so patience and paution for tssion cause of the dreamers. it s not clear at all that she s going to whiff. she said she would vote against the budget deal herself. not clear whether she ll demand that any of them come along. mike, the bottom line is, they re going to i have vote tod to have a vote today in the senate which will set the stage. it s interesting in how he s framing the argument, that this election year is not so much about the issue, and certainly democrats are struggling with how to balance the concerns of the dreamers with some of the other political head winds that might be on republicans. but this is a moment of national
