"Everyone is coming together," one shelter volunteer said. "This is the time when community is supposed to come together and that's exactly what's been happening."
With intense cold and fierce winds on the way, cities and towns were preparing to provide warming options for those in need. Apparent temperatures were expected to drop down to -50 degrees Friday and Saturday.
