CALGARY - The Calgary Flames downed the visiting Vancouver Canucks 4-1 on Thursday in a battle of clubs trying to salvage positives from their seasons.
Neither team will make the North Division playoffs, yet have three games remaining against each other as they play out the string. We want to win the last three games, so that s how we approach it, Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson said.
Elias Lindholm and Matthew Tkachuk each had a goal and an assist for the Flames (24-26-3), who could still finish above .500 if they win out.

Comets 2-Game Win Streak Interrupted Sunday in Syracuse
The Utica Comets took the momentum from 2 home wins into Syracuse on Sunday afternoon, but three 1st-period Crunch goals quickly shifted momentum.
Goaltender Mike DiPietro started out strong in the 1st-period by turning away five shots on goal as the Crunch came out shooting. The next shot by Syracuse came at 7:11 when Crunch defenseman Chase Priskie stepped in for a shot that went wide off the end-boards. Priskie took advantage of his own rebound and fired a shot that got past DiPietro. Two more unanswered goals would get into the Comets net as the first-period ended with a 3-0 Syracuse lead.
Utica Comets Pounce on Division Rival Rochester
It was a heated performance by the Utica Comets on Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center, as the home-team buried the Amerks 7-1.
Seven different Comets would put the puck in the net and Mike DiPietro registered 19 saves in the Comets win, including the first goal by Dakota Joshua who recently played 11-games in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues. Rochester would score its only goal of the game, also early on in the first period after a spectacular penalty shot save by DiPietro. 18-seconds later the Amerks would tie the game at 1. It wouldn t take long for the Comets to regain the lead with a goal by Lukas Jasek with 6:05 remaining in the first period. The Comets would score one more in the 1st period with just 1 second remaining, to increase their lead to 3-1.
