LIBERTY CENTER â A multi-vehicle crash a few miles southwest of here Wednesday morning on U.S. 24 injured one person seriously, closed half the road and involved several tractor trailers.
The crash occurred at 9:29 a.m. on U.S. 24, two miles west of Ohio 109, according to the Henry County Sheriffâs Office which handled the crash.
One person sustained possible serious injury, and was taken by a rescue squad to a hospital in Toledo, a source at the sheriffâs office indicated.
Rescue units from Napoleon, McClure and Delta were called to the scene which involved seven tractor trailer rigs and one other vehicle.
A trio of area county sheriffs are looking forward to starting their third, four-year terms in January.
They are Henry County Sheriff Mike Bodenbender, who won a contested election in November; Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller; and Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers.
All three were elected to their initial terms in November 2012 and followed that up with re-election in 2016. But it was Bodenbender who had the biggest challenge this fall when he won a contested election against former sheriffâs office sergeant, Marc Ruskey.
Miller and Landers were unopposed.
It goes without saying that each is happy to begin a new term relatively distant from electoral concerns. In Landersâ case, he has not been opposed in any of his elections, but is grateful for another opportunity to focus on the next four years.
