YREKA, Calif. The US Forest Service has identified 10 small fires throughout the Klamath National Forest, with fire crews and teams of smokejumpers now working to contain them while they re still small.
Officials said that the recent series of thunderstorms brought abundant lightning through the forest on June 24, sparking a number of small fires.
“We are actively working to suppress all fires and are utilizing the additional resources we brought in ahead of yesterday’s lightning to keep the fires as small as possible,” said Mike Appling, Forest Fire Management Officer for the Klamath National Forest. “We also brought in smokejum
