Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She has stood up for women, for diverse communities. She has been one of the most progressive voices on the Supreme Court pushing an agenda of justice for all, which is what this country is founded on. Its a huge loss, it is a huge loss. The mayor of San Francisco speaking with us about the contributions of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Good evening, im andre senior. And im christina run down. Justice ginsburg died at her home in washington, d. C. From pancreatic cancer. Family was by her side, she was 87 years old. Chief Justice John Roberts announced her passing earlier this evening saying quote, our nation has lost a jurist of historic stature. We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn, but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her, a tireless and resolute champion of justice. Were ready. Good morning. Im dave clark. Lets talk about weather and traffic. Steve paulson has things to tell you. There is a lot of cloud cover. Some of it is low clouds coming in west to east. High clouds coming off the sierra where theyve had rain. It will give us a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy day. There are breaks in the low clouds. But temperatures cool to mild. Not too bad. Not cold. But there is a little he breeze behind that. The cloud cover, you can see some of that. The rain off the sierra. We have cloud from the sierra going east to west at higher elevations. Then going from west to east, the low clouds. These two come together and you can see the thundershower activity, the rain kind of calms down in the morning. But it picks up later in the afternoon. That will be widespread through the sierra, also Northern California. Could be a few isolated showers. The low is rotating around. 50s on the temps. Warmer ocean temps have brought some of these up. I think alicia raises two important points. The first is the last, the one, the unintended consequences of changes in election procedures. We almost always get what we think were going to get but then theres always Something Else that follows on. And one is, the behavior of voters with an expectation, particularly in an era of egovernment. Why shouldnt my records and ballots be available where ever i choose to go . The second thing, and military installations if you want to improve the child halls, the general always makes the food better. One of the things i think is interesting with Election Officials is how many of us vote on election day. How many of us experience that line, that q. And the answer is, most of us vote absentee because of that responsibility. So one of the things ive tried to do over the years is ideal in advance to ago and i stand in line and i learned a lot. I learnt a lot by listening to people, but that may be something as a professional goal for each of us is ex
Were not going to count to see these things that you care about. What can i give you a free ride, a little time to figure out. I have one item to jonathans list of policies that have been conflictual, socialist invention of the subtle dimension in its rate to were, which is huge in a lot of ways and i think to be seen to things over the coming years of american federalism. One is distasteful split on more and more of these issues along sectional lines and second, among the states and the federal government that will become more conflictual and i believe thats all to the good. Will receive complete hodgepodge of coalitions on different issues . Are we seeing a different pattern quick no, i havent followed the mayor wanted name, but if you look at labor, the environment playing out that way, a variety of social and cultural issues is always, importantly health care you mentioned is always the same coalition for certain stability there and a huge overlap and thats a terrific thing. Is thi
A Salvadoran woman's recent lawsuit alleging immigration authorities locked her up for months despite her protected status highlights how authorized immigrants, and sometimes even U.S. citizens, can wind up being wrongfully detained, and how, with no right to counsel in immigration proceedings, it can prove difficult to free them.
