The NWS says an Alaskan storm will produce gusts up to 35 mph at the coast and up to 55 mph along the ridges of local mountains, especially Mount Laguna.
Rain is expected to continue through most of Wednesday as a cluster of storms quickly moved over the Los Angeles region, the National Weather Service says.
Lightning led to beach closures in San Pedro, Torrance, Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach, the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Lifeguard Division said.
