TeamLab returns to Mifuneyama Rakuen with their colorful and interactive digital art installations, this time featuring over 20 installations set in the 500,000 square meter garden. It was included in the “Giant hot air balloon whales and 15 other outdoor art exhibits to see around the world” by CNN, and this year will feature a new art space in collaboration with Volvo automobiles. The installation, which combines the history and stories of Mifuneyama Rakuen, can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors.

teamLab Planets TOKYO in Toyosu, Tokyo is celebrating its third anniversary with an expansion: on July 2, the museum opens a new Garden Area with two interactive garden artworks.
Two gardens will open to the public: a garden where visitors can become one with the flowers, immersing themselves in over 13,000 live orchids that bloom in mid-air; and a moss garden filled with ovoids that shine and resonate when pushed by people or blown by the wind.
After Covid-19 shuttered galleries across the globe, the art world is staging a cautious reopening which includes a host of pandemic-friendly, open-air exhibitions.

Azalea is a shrub with red, pink, and white flowers that bloom from April to June. It is commonly used as a garden and roadside shrub in many parts of Japan since ancient times and introduced in Japan’s oldest collection of
waka poems, the Manyoshu. During the Edo period (1603-1868), when horticulture became popular among the general public, many varieties of azaleas were bred from those growing wild in Kyushu.
There are now more than 2,000 varieties of azaleas. Typical azaleas with flowers and leaves that are smaller than those of the original species include the Kirishima azalea, which was bred from the
