The southeastern Illinois region has another chance of severe weather Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the Storm Prediction Center and National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky. The weather service says all severe hazards are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, which shows some similarities to the system that moved through the Midwest Friday afternoon and evening. A National Weather Service official Saturday said in a report that a six-mile path of damage through Salem, IL was most likely caused by a tornado. Surveys indicated the path began at the Salem Fire Training Station on the Selmaville Road and continued to the Andrews Court Area, then across I-57 and into the South Broadway-West Lake Street neighborhood where dozens of homes and businesses were damaged, and ended on U.S. Route 50 with the destruction of a barn east of County Farm Road.
