Muscatine, IA- Authorities in Muscatine County found a woman dead in her home after receiving a tip from police in Florida. TV Station WQAD reports that, at about 9 AM Monday, August 15th, dispatchers received a call from the North Palm Beach Florida Police Department, saying they received a tip off to a potential murder at a rural home near Montpelier, in rural Muscatine County. Florida police also said a suspect in the case had returned to Florida, where police located a vehicle and were conducting surveillance. Deputies went to the home in the 3700 Block of Midway Beach for a welfare check and found a woman dead. During the investigation, Florida police reported that officers entered a house where the suspect has been located, and found them dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of family members. The investigation is ongoing.

Gisborne district councillors say local authorities have few options after clearing trailer-loads of rubbish, including mattresses and broken TVs. They can either slap someone with a $400 fine and hope it gets paid, or take the perpetrator to court.
