The Town of Midland received $50,000 from the County s Security Camera Registry And Mapping program to install five cameras around the marina and 20 cameras in the downtown core.

The East Algoma OPP and the Canadian Coast Guard are advising the public that ice-breaking operations on Lake Huron have started.
The CCGS Griffin will be carrying out operations on the following dates: Midland Harbour breakout on the morning of March 9; Transit to North Channel (Serpent Harbour) during the afternoon of March 9; Fisher Harbour breakout and Lafarge (Manitoulin Island) on the morning of March 10; and Bruce Mines and Thessalon breakout on March 11.

Following these operations, the CCGS Griffin will go back south.
“It is recommended that all recreational users of the ice – pedestrians, snowmobilers, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) operators – leave the ice during icebreaking operations,” said an OPP release.
