The Filipino – American community appealed to the Los Angeles (LA) City Council to intervene in LAWA (Los Angeles Worlds Airport)’s move to transfer the Philippine Airlines (PAL) Gates from the main terminal of LA International Airport (LAX) to the Midfield Satellite Concourse, at least 20 minutes walk away, effective June 15, 2021.

It was a “customer insensitive decision” on LAWA’s part, said Fil – Am Community Leader Ethel Rubio, who yesterday (June 2) issued the call to the LA City Council.
PAL was the top wheelchair user among international carriers at LAX in 2020, with 35 percent of its passengers aged 59 and above, of which 28 percent request for wheelchairs.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) will move its flights departing and arriving at Los Angeles to the new Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The MSC gates are in a separate concourse that is connected to the main TBIT area by an underground tunnel.
The Los Angeles airport authority advised that the transfer date is moved to June 15, 2021.
Additional Walk Time to and from Aircraft Gates: Please allot approximately 20 minutes additional time to walk to your departure gates at the MSC. From the TBIT main concourse, after clearing security, passengers will need to access the tunnel walkway via escalators, elevators and moving walkways.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) said on Friday, May 21, that it was forced to move its flights to the new concourse of the Los Angeles International Airport starting June 1. Effective June 1, 2021, PAL will be forced, over our protest, to move our flights departing and arriving at Los Angeles to the new Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), PAL said in a statement.
