Place North West | Middlewich industrial tipped for approval

Neil Tague Plans by joint venture developer Magnitude Land for 867,000 sq ft of warehousing in Middlewich look set for the green light. The project is billed as phase three of Ma6nitude, with the development vehicle being made up of Tritax Symmetry and Northern Powerhouse Land. Outline plans were submitted in March and go before Cheshire East Council’s strategic planning board next week with a recommendation to approve. The JV is seeking permission to add 867,000 sq ft of logistics accommodation on land south of Cledford Lane and west of the proposed Middlewich Eastern Bypass. If approved, the latest phase would take the total consented space at Ma6nitude to 1.5m sq ft.

Middlewich Eastern Bypass costs surge by £13 million

The scheme will now cost more than £70 million COSTS on the Middlewich bypass project have surged by £13.3 million, council documents show. Ahead of the council discussing its 2021-22 budget on Wednesday (February 17), documents released show that the price of the project has risen from £60.2 million to £73.5 million. The report says: “Since the July 2020 approval officers have been focussed on refining the land and interests that are necessary to deliver the scheme in order to satisfy the requirement that there be a ‘compelling case in the public interest’ for land and interests to be acquired.  “Members will note that the scheme costs have increased since the approval given in July 2020 from £60.2 million to £73.5 million.”
