MANCHESTER — With the Manchester-by-the-Sea Fire Chief Jason Cleary slated to formally step down at the end of the week, a familiar face has been chosen to fill his boots.
The mayor of Middleton is calling for urgent hospital staffing improvements following the recent death of a patient who went into cardiac arrest when there was no doctor on site.
Paramedics and firefighters responded to a call about a patient in cardiac arrest last Thursday while the doctor on call wasn't on site. Town officials say it's a symptom of a failing system, but the health authority says staff followed the proper procedure.
