LOWELL The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell has launched a new program that aims at putting food insecurity among Lowell's youth in the rearview mirror.
Drivers going up and down the VFW Highway may have noticed that the route is a little more colorful recently after a local artist painted murals on both sides of the busy roadway under the Hunts Falls Bridge. Bright colors and happy looking clouds now adorn the walls underneath Hunts Falls Bridge, where many motorists pass through on their way in and out of Lowell and neighboring Dracut. While the murals will not be visible to very many pedestrians, that is part of the point, artist Frank Casazza said, as the murals are part of an effort to bring art and color to parts of Lowell that are historically “underutilized.”
MAYOR SOKHARY Chau opens every Lowell City Council meeting with a traditional request for “any moment of silence or memorial?” At this point in the public meeting, before the official business is conducted, councilors may read a memorial and request a darkening of chambers for members of the community who have passed.
