Middleboro Planning Board continues to voice frustrations over South Coast Rail plans

Middleboro Planning Board continues to voice frustrations over South Coast Rail plans Daniel Schemer MIDDLEBORO  The recent 3-2 vote announcing its opposition to the rail station being built in town for South Coast Rail garnered the Planning Board a lot of attention.  At its February 16 meeting, the Board followed up on this act with a brief discussion about where to go next.  “I think it’s necessary that people understand there’s only so much we as the Board can do to try and convince authorities what actually makes sense to us  the people they’re actually supposed to be serving,” said Adam Bond, Board Chair, over the vote taken on February 2.

Woods Pond residents overstaying season to get Cease & Desist notices

The Select Board approved Cease & Desist notices to be sent to the occupants residing in the seasonal homes of Woods Pond campgrounds, located on King’s Way, at the Jan. 25 Select Board meeting.  The board emphasized that it is not safe for residents living past season due to the lack of potable water, and they must leave the premises. It was previously reported that several occupants residing at these seasonal homes have been living there illegally year-round. Many of these cottage-style units in this part of Woods Pond are restricted to seasonal use from April 16 – October 10.  Most of the campgrounds consist of shared communal wells and septic systems, both of which aren’t designed and sustainable for year-round use.
