DERBY The new staff members hired by the Derby Board of Education June 1 come from across the country, and across town.
One new special education teacher is coming to the city schools from Illinois. Another is a 2017 Derby High School graduate.
Jim Gildea, the chairman of the board of education, welcomed incoming special education teacher Elenna Reyes.
“We welcome you here and we’re a much cooler state too. So, welcome to the family,” Gildea said.
