Middle Fork Bottoms Project pushes toward September opening
Madison County residents will soon be able to enjoy a new nature trail and recreational area, as well as improved flood management, thanks to the Middle Fork Bottoms Project, just off of Highway 45, near Sanders Bluff Road.
The 850-acre plot of formerly undeveloped land has seen dramatic changes since the project started in 2017, and now boasts five miles of paved trail, along with primitive trails, kayaking/canoeing areas, fishing spots and wildlife areas.
“Everything kind of came together at once,” said David Blackwood, agency engineer with the West Tennessee River Basin Authority. “We were able to put this project together and get a lot of recreational components together. There’s been a lot of community interest.”
