Two students from a local youth community stumbled upon the buried treasure while helping the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) as part of a Pre-Army Service Year, known as Shnat Sherut. Two students noticed a shimmer of gold peeking through the cracked remains of a small jar in the ground.
