The Martha s Vineyard Times A proud moment atop Gay Head Light Petty officer Colleen Wilson is sworn in inside Gay Head Light by senior Chief Justin Longval of Station Menemsha. (Both took off their masks briefly for the ceremony.) -Rich Saltzberg Midday Friday, high atop Gay Head Light in the great lantern, with Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands in the background, Petty Officer Colleen Wilson re-enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard.  Wilson, an eight-year veteran who’s been at Station Menemsha for about six months, has signed on for another three years. In a brief ceremony, Senior Chief Justin Longval, officer in charge of Station Menemsha, swore Wilson in. In addition to her nautical duties at the station, Wilson is in training to be a heavy weather coxswain, according to Chief Stephen White, executive officer of Station Menemsha. 

HCSO Identifies Suspect In Friday Afternoon Shooting

The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office has an issued a warrant for the arrest of a man they believe shot another man Friday afternoon According to HCSO Lieutenant Donnie Mapp: Mid-day Friday, deputies responded to a call of a crashed vehicle with injuries off Morgan Road, just west of Corinth-Poseyville Road. They soon learned the cause of the crash was the driver had been shot. Investigators believe that as the victim’s vehicle had come off Corinth-Poseyville Road, a white older model Jeep was parked in the street and a white male was standing next to it. The driver of the vehicle attempted to go around the man in the road. As he did, the man in the road fired at least one shot into the vehicle, striking the victim.
