Midday Friday, high atop Gay Head Light in the great lantern, with Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands in the background, Petty Officer Colleen Wilson re-enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Wilson, an eight-year veteran who’s been at Station Menemsha for about six months, has signed on for another three years. In a brief ceremony, Senior Chief Justin Longval, officer in charge of Station Menemsha, swore Wilson in. In addition to her nautical duties at the station, Wilson is in training to be a heavy weather coxswain, according to Chief Stephen White, executive officer of Station Menemsha.

According to HCSO Lieutenant Donnie Mapp: Mid-day Friday, deputies responded to a call of a crashed vehicle with injuries off Morgan Road, just west of Corinth-Poseyville Road. They soon learned the cause of the crash was the driver had been shot.
Investigators believe that as the victim’s vehicle had come off Corinth-Poseyville Road, a white older model Jeep was parked in the street and a white male was standing next to it. The driver of the vehicle attempted to go around the man in the road. As he did, the man in the road fired at least one shot into the vehicle, striking the victim.
this weekend into early next week. the timing isn t clear yet. i ll have more to say at the end of the briefing. so on social there s this story swirling that we intend to keep power out for the entire two events, that they ll be close together so, we won t restore, we ll just let the power be out. that is not true. we expect to have the all-clear in most of this area by midday tomorrow. midday friday. but we will be getting restoration immediately and intend to restore everybody before the next potential event gets here. now, i want to say something very important to the many thousands of pg&e employees and ntractors who work hard every day and who are now out in the field preparing to do the hard work of inspecting our system and restoring power. thanks for your work. be careful.
