MARTINSBURG, W.Va. â Berkeley County Sheriffâs Deputy R.L. Steerman Jr. said last week that the investigation of the Sept. 6 fatal shooting outside a Martinsburg-area sports bar and restaurant remains active, and he is hopeful witnesses come forward.
More than three months after the shooting death of Vance Trotman Jr. and wounding of Devon Gordon Jr. in the parking lot of Mountaineer Pub, Steerman said he and other investigators are still working to piece together evidence.
âThis has been the worst case in my whole 18-year career,â Steerman said.
Trotman, 26, of Hagerstown, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the shooting at 214 Mid Atlantic Parkway, and Gordon, 29, of Martinsburg, was flown to a Northern Virginia hospital where he was treated for gunshot wounds for a number of weeks before being released.
