SACAA releases report on fatal Ballito aircraft crash Updated Nushera Soodyal Share this: The South African Civil Aviation Authority has released a preliminary report on last month s aircraft crash in Ballito. iStock The pilot and passenger, Leon Meiring were both killed when the microlight came down - after taking off from the Ballito Microlight School. Meiring from Mpumalanga had been on holiday.  The CAA says the pilot and the passenger took off on a 30-minute introductory flight. It says officials at Ballito Microlights went searching for the aircraft when it didn t return.
