Coming off a solid defensive performance, the North Callaway Thunderbirds will need to get their offense going to achieve their first win this season against the Macon Tigers tonight.
What began as a four-score lead shrunk to one score for the Kirksville football team in the season opener against Macon on Friday. A hot start saw Kirksville jump ahead 28-0, but Macon fought back in the second half to pull within 34-26, but Kirksville managed to pull away in response and held on to win 42-26.
On Aug. 18, Kirksville and Macon football teams got a little preview of their impending season opener. One week before Kirksville is set to host Macon for real, Hugh Dunn Field in Macon was the site of jamboree scrimmages featuring the two teams, as well as Brookfield and Marceline.
