WHMI 93.5 Local News : Lansing Man Sentenced For Brighton Area Police Chase

January 9, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com Sentencing has been handed down to a man who led local authorities on a vehicle pursuit and foot chase. 22-year-old Savion Richardson of Lansing was arrested last August after Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to stop his 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee as it traveled eastbound on I-96 near Latson Road. Richardson had a felony warrant for carrying a concealed weapon, which stemmed from a previous vehicle pursuit by the Sheriff’s Office in March of 2020. On Thursday, Livingston County Circuit Court Judge Michael Hatty sentenced Richardson on a charge of bond absconding to two years of probation, with 150 days in the Livingston County Jail and credit for 30 days already served. On a charge of 4th degree fleeing a police officer, he was ordered to serve 148 days in jail, with credit for 118 days already served. The sentence was timed to run concurrent to a 93 day sentence for domestic viole

Child killed in auto crash

A 4-year-old girl from Fayetteville, North Carolina was killed in automobile crash on U.S. 23 in Livingston County on Friday, Jan. 1.  According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday Jan. 1, at approximately 11 p.m., deputies with the sheriff’s office were dispatched to northbound U.S. 23 south of Highland Road on the report of a single vehicle crash with possible injuries.  The investigation revealed that a 36-year-old man from Fayetteville, North Carolina, later identified as Jonathan Osborne, was operating a 2006 Ford Expedition northbound when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to leave the roadway and strike several trees. Osborne’s 33-year-old wife, 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

January 2, 2021 A child from North Carolina was killed in a crash Friday night in Livingston County. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched at approximately 11pm to northbound US-23, south of M-59, on the report of a single vehicle crash with possible injuries.   A preliminary investigation indicated that a 36-year-old male resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina was operating a 2006 Ford Expedition northbound when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to leave the roadway and strike several trees.  The driver s 33-year-old wife, 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
