Holland BPW s Renewable Energy Rate provides options for homeowners

Our community has a passion for sustainable living and for Holland’s Community Energy Plan. The Holland Board of Public Works offers an easy option for choosing to use more sustainable energy  the Elective Renewable Energy Rate. Renewable energy is electricity from sources that produce little or no emissions by using resources that replenish themselves naturally, such as wind, landfill gas, and sunlight. Fifteen percent of the electricity supplied by Holland BPW comes from renewable resources. The Elective Renewable Energy Rate gives customers a choice in their source of electricity. When customers choose additional renewable energy, their demand drives the BPW to secure additional renewable supplies.

HBPU and power agency exploring local generation Don Reid HBPU and power agency considering local generation Hillsdale has joined Coldwater Board of Public Utilities to move forward to possibly build a 50-megawatt gas powered turbine planned as part of a 100-MW plant at Coldwater. Michigan South Central Power Agency and Michigan Public Power Agency have asked the Midwest Independent System Operator to continue its study for cost of grid connection improvements needed. There are numerous issues to address simultaneously before a decision comes on construction of the plant. For now, three members of MSCPA will look to purchase power through 2023, but will examine possible cost savings and advantages for getting peak power instate from its own generators in the future.
