Metro Detroit weather: Chilly and becoming wetter Mother s Day

Happy Mother’s Day and welcome to Sunday, Motown. Rain showers gradually spread across much of the region today. Then it becomes drier and colder overnight. Sunshine returns tomorrow and Tuesday with slightly higher temps. It will feel more like spring by the end of this week. Sunday afternoon will be cloudy and chilly. Clouds lower and thicken as the minutes and hours move forward. Rain will pick up in intensity but be light when compared to the downpours and thunderstorms south of the Michigan border (in Indiana, Ohio and the Ohio Valley). Cities and towns in our North Zone (areas north of M-59/Hall Road) will be drier but chilly. It will be cloudy in northern Oakland County, northern Macomb County and from Flint to Lapeer to Port Huron northward into The Thumb. Highs will be in the low and mid 40s.
