The law of the land. We arent free, after all. A state representative somewhere say that its as destructive as the fugitive slave act. As destructive to personal individual liberty as a fugitive slave act of 1850. Im not making this stuff up. The left likes to think that we are the fringe. It is time to end the slavish devotion to the democrat party. That is, unfortunately, where we are right now. Sort of launch and leave missiles, politically speaking. We arent free, after all. And thats the idea here. After the gop took a shellacking in the 2012 elections, there was a whole lot of talking about rebranding the Republican Party. The gop said they were going to eninvest in outreach to minorities and women. In reality, we have witnessed a lot of the same old, same old. Case in point, one of the marquis names of the gop teaming up with one of the partys most extreme members. On tuesday, former Vice President ial candidate, paul ryan, phoned into a Conference Call with republican candidate

Now the testimony of gms Ceo Mary Barra and the attorney who conducted the investigation. The hearing is just under three hours. [inaudible conversations] i now convene this hearing titled the gm ignition switch recall investigation update. Ms. Barra when you were before the committee three months ago, you could not answer many of the questions about why to took gm years to figure out why the air bags were not deploying in your vehicles when they should have. It took years before issuing a safety recall. Now the report is public and it concludes it doesnt appear to be a case of coverup or conspira conspiracy. Instead the failure to recall the vehicles was a case of imco imcomptence and neglect. I still have questions about the whether the employees willingly withheld information that could have led to an earlier recall and prevented some of the tragedies that occurred. The facts surrounding the recall are far more concerning than a coverup. The employees giving the facts and who were t

I now convene this hearing of the oversight and investigation subcommittee entitled the gm ignition switch recall investigation update. I thiank my colleagues and presenters for being here. Ms. Barra, when you were before this committee almost three months ago you could not answer many of the subcommittees questions about why it took General Motors years to figure out why the air bags in the cobalts, ions, hhrs were not deploying when they should have. It took gm years before finally issuing a safety recall. Now mr. Valucas has made public his report on the gm fiasco in which he concludes it doesnt appear to be a case of a coverup or a conspiracy. Instead, according to mr. Valukass report gms failure to recall faulty vehicles was a case of incompetence and neglect. Perhaps this report should have been subtitled dont assume malfeasance when incompetence will do. I still have questions about whether gm employees knowingly withheld information during previous liability lawsuits. Informati

Breakdowns and fundamental misunderstandings that permitted gm engineers not to suspect a safety problem when cobalts were stalling due to a faulty switch. The possibility these problems are pervasive and cultural deeply concerns me. Concerns us all. We learn machine that gm has announced yet another recall. 39th since january. This one is hauntingly similar to the cobalt ignition switch recall. The ignition switch in certain buicks, chevys and cadillacs moves out to the run position moves out of the run position if the key has too much weight on it causing the car to lose power and stall. The model years goes back to the year 2000. Your report tells us about the engineering and legal findings of gm but what it doesnt divulge is weather gm attorneys made conscious decisions during discovery and prevented the truth from coming out sooner and potentially saving lives. That kind of malfeasance should be the crux of a coverup. I want to delve deeper into that issue n find out if that occur

Never be brought into the public square. Culturally we value the role of religion in public life stipulated. So the big difference, of course, is do we respect the right of everyone, irrespective of faith, including those who have no faith, those who are athei atheists, who are unbelievers, to follow their consciences precisely in matters of faith . We believe in that very strongly. We did from the beginning in the United States. Its written into our constitution. Even before we had a first amendment, our constitution has a prohibition of religious tests for public offices. Anybody of any faith can hold any office under the United States. And we have committed ourselves, as have many other nations, including iran, to International Human rights standards with respect to religious freedom. So were really simply asking iran to live up to those standards. Were not saying disseven religion, thats not our claim. We understand you can have a different system from ours. Were just saying, respe
