Michigan State Representative Felicia Brabec said she was happy to hear the governor say bipartisian action is what is going to help us move forward in the state. She said it will help put an end to the pandemic, get people vaccinated, and get students and teachers back to school safely.
Representative Brabec said she was also pleased the governor addressed improving state roads and preserving our water infrastructure.
She also agreed with the governor s assessment that the state of the state is that Michigan is resilient.

And those 18 Michigan Republican lawmakers bear some responsibility for stoking and fomenting the anger and mistrust that metastasized into political violence in Washington, D.C. and in Lansing. As a result, Republicans, Democrats and independents across the country and in Michigan are speaking up, voicing concerns and distancing themselves from this unpatriotic group.
We know that several Republicans in the Michigan House of Representatives wrote a letter to Vice President Mike Pence asking him to delay finalization of the Nov. 3 election results by 10 days so lawmakers could, “meet, investigate and as a body vote on certification or decertification of the election.”
Lansing A husband and wife who have been at the center of the campaign to overturn Michigan s presidential election are poised to see their political influence among state Republicans grow in the coming weeks.
Some members of the party are happy about the rise of longtime activists Rep. Matt Maddock, R-Milford, and Meshawn Maddock, while others contend their actions since Nov. 3 deserve repercussions, not promotion.
Meshawn is expected to become co-chair of the state GOP in February.
The couple s efforts to intervene in the state s election results culminated when they participated in pro-President Donald Trump demonstrations in Washington, D.C., that spiraled out of control Wednesday and eventually led to a mob storming the U.S. Capitol. In a Thursday statement, Meshawn condemned the violence and breaching of the Capitol in the strongest possible terms.

Changes are coming as we mark the start of the New Year. A new presidential administration, Congress, and state Legislature will be sworn in later this month. Democrat Donna Lasinski is the new minority leader in the state House. The 52nd District Representative from Scio Township is the first guest of the New Year on 1st Friday Focus on the Environment. Along with WEMU’s David Fair and Lisa Wozniak of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Lasinski discussed the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead in protecting our air, land, and water in a pandemic economy.

By Christopher B. McClain Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson was a test for the Michigan House Democrats to show that last summer s Black Lives Matter and Protect Black Women rhetoric wasn t hollow. Unfortunately, and to me unsurprisingly, they failed it. Last week, the president s attorney Rudy Giuliani came to Lansing to undermine the results of Michigan s elections. His primary methodology was to denigrate Detroit by challenging the integrity of its people and cast falsehoods and clouds of conspiracy. Johnson defended us and did her best to push back against a vicious federal administration bent on using tropes to claim election fraud.
