FLINT, MI Chancellor Deba Dutta is confident the University of Michigan-Flint will be “back to normal” for students this fall.
While stressing that the campus will maintain safety protocols in alignment with state and CDC guidelines, Dutta told MLive-The Flint Journal Wednesday, March 10, the university is excited to bring students back to in-person, full-time class.

MICHIGAN â When Rachel Klausâ 12-year-old daughter Sarah was complaining about her neck hurting on Thanksgiving 2019, she immediately took her to the emergency room to get it checked out. The nurse practitioner examined her and said it was a virus and that she should rest up at home.
However, Sarahâs health declined when she began coughing that night.
âBy the next day she seemed to be kind of having a harder time breathing and I thought âoh no, is this turning into something respiratory,â Klaus recalled during a Zoom interview last week. âBy Saturday, which was November 30, she was struggling to breathe and I looked at her and she looked kind of gray and her fingernails looked kind of blue and her lips also looked blue. I thought sheâs not getting enough oxygen.â�
