Hudson Reporter Hudson County Community College Welcomes the New Season with Art, Poetry, Timely Discussions, Music, Yoga, and More × Beginning this month, the Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Department of Cultural Affairs (DOCA) will host a fresh season of extraordinary, online events from the College’s Benjamin J. Dineen III and Dennis C. Hull Gallery. Here is just a sampling of the events and exhibits available in February: Laurie Riccadonna: Eternal Bloom celebrates HCCC Professor Riccadonna’s years of dedication to her artistic practice and teaching career. Breonna Taylor’s mom to speak at HCCC Speaker Series event and questions are welcomed Updated Feb 07, 2021; Facebook Share JERSEY CITY Tamika Palmer, Breonna Taylor’s mother, will be a speaker at Hudson County Community College’s Speaker Series event this week. Palmer will virtually attend the live Zoom event on Thursday at noon. Those who wish to access the series can register at https://tinyurl.com/HCCCTamikaPalmer and questions for Palmer can be submitted by Wednesday to mvitale@hccc.edu with the subject line “Breonna Taylor.” Breonna Taylor was one of the Black deaths who inspired Black Lives Matter protests nationwide during the summer of 2020.

By HUDSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE February 6, 2021 at 6:16 AM Credits: Hudson County Community College Ad February 6, 2021 at 6:16 AM JERSEY CITY, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) will host Tamika Palmer, mother of Breonna Taylor, during a College Speaker Series event at 12 noon on Thursday, February 18, 2021. HCCC Assistant Professor of History, Dorothy Anderson, and HCCC Director of Cultural Affairs, Michelle Vitale, will co-moderate the discussion with Ms. Palmer. The live Zoom event will open with a performance by Jersey City Poet Laureate Rashad Wright. The event will conclude with a virtual tour of the exhibition, “Azikiwe Mohammed: ‘Tales from Fold Out Chairs,’ and Rashad Wright: ‘in heaven’s Wakanda’,” which has been curated by Ysabel Pinyol Blasi and is being presented in partnership with Monira Foundation in the HCCC Benjamin J. Dineen and Dennis C. Hull Gallery.

Breonna Taylor s mother Tamika Palmer to speak on live Zoom event hosted by HCCC

By John Heinis/Hudson County View Palmer will take part in HCCC’s Speaker Series event that will stream at 12 noon on Thursday, February 18th, the school announced on Friday. In keeping with HCCC President’s Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (PACDEI) practices, the college requests that members of the community participate by submitting questions they may have for Palmer by February 10, 2020 to mvitale@hccc.edu with the subject line “Breonna Taylor.” Breonna Taylor became a catalyst for the Black Lives Matter movement when she was shot and killed by police in her Louisville, Kentucky home on March 13th, 2020.
