ILOILO CITY – Residents of Guimaras and two towns in Iloilo are bracing for a 12-hour power blackout as the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) is set to conduct maintenance work on a 69-kilovolt distribution line from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

“We are hoping for understanding of those who will be affected,” said Michelle Visera, NGCP Western Visayas regional corporate communications officer.
Affected areas include the whole of Guimaras, which consists of the towns of Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag.
In a separate announcement, power distributor Guimaras Electric Cooperative (GUIMELCO) said NGCP will also conduct transmission line correction and clearing of insulators at the Buenavista substation.
