Books are a great way to escape everyday life. We get to experience new places, people, and situations outside of our own lives.
Some readers escape with
fantasy stories. Some like love stories. And some readers like murder mysteries … but not violent ones.
So-called “cozy” mysteries provide readers with warmth and a sense of security. Think of a cozy bed with soft, thick covers to climb under when you are cold and tired. That s cozy.
Cozies, as they often called, are murder mysteries without a lot of blood or violence. So, they are different than true crime stories and darker, more violent mysteries.

The L.A. County Board of Supervisors delayed the vote on a motion Tuesday that would create a permanent juvenile-detention facility at Camp Joseph Scott or Camp Kenyon Scudder, which are both in Saugus.
The move comes as
Santa Clarita officials sent letters to the board, contending the project requires a comprehensive assessment before continuing.
If approved, the board motion would adopt a state subcommittee’s recommendations to move violent youth offenders to the Saugus facilities, which were originally designed to host nonviolent youth offenders, while directing the county to “ensure that the appropriate renovations are made at Scott or Scudder within 90 days to be safe and ready for use.”
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is scheduled Tuesday to consider supporting the creation of a permanent juvenile detention facility at Camp Joseph Scott or Camp Kenyon Scudder, which are both in Saugus.
If approved, the board motion – submitted by county Supervisors Holly Mitchell and Sheila Kuehl –would have the county adopt a state subcommittee’s recommendations to move violent youth offenders to the Santa Clarita facilities, which were originally designed to host non-violent youth offenders.
The motion directs the county to “ensure that the appropriate renovations are made at Scott or Scudder within 90 days to be safe and ready for use,” while male youth sentenced after July 1, 2021, are temporarily housed at county-run Campus Kilpatrick in Malibu and female youth are housed at county-run Dorothy Kirby Center in Commerce.
Santa Clarita Residents Waiting For Second Dose Encouraged To Keep COVID-19 Vaccination Card
Santa Clarita Valley residents getting a COVID-19 vaccine are being encouraged to keep track of their vaccination cards.
When Santa Clarita Valley residents receive the COVID-19 shot, they are issued a vaccination card, which is one way health officials can keep track of what type of vaccine each person receives as well as keep track of lot numbers, according to officials.
However, if an individual receives their vaccine and misplaces their card, their information is not lost, according to officials.
If someone gets their first COVID-19 vaccine dose at a Los Angeles County vaccine site and misplaces their card, they can go to any County vaccine site and have their information pulled up, said Michelle Vega, a spokesperson for Kathryn Barger’s office.
