Janet Marie Rafferty, 80, of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully at home on March 4. Janet fully embraced all that life had to offer, especially fishing, hiking, traveling and exploring the great outdoors. She owned the lake wherever she fished. She was a lifelong dog lover: Her Newfoundland, Thora, was a loyal companion until the very end. Janet raised three children while working first as an LPN and then as a special-education teacher in Burnsville, MN, and autism coordinator in Superior, WI. Many of her students stayed in touch long after they graduated. Her caring, loving, generous and adventurous spirit will be sadly missed by her many dear friends and all who knew and loved her. Janet is preceded in death by parents Stanley G. and Ann F. Anderson (nee Dancisak), of Minneapolis, MN. Though most Australian states have allowed quarantine-free visits from New Zealand residents since late last year, New Zealand had enforced isolation for arrivals from its neighbour, citing concerns about sporadic virus outbreaks there.
