displaced or impacted by the fire. i m so glad you re okay. yeah, i m okay. i was so worried about you. reporter: michelle nguyen lost her home and her parents business. eight members of the family raced to the water to escape the flames. there was nowhere to go, so, we just had to be in the water for like five hours straight. reporter: you were just treading water for five hours straight? yeah. reporter: these kids just trying to get back to some kind of normal. but close to 3,000 students lost their schools. more than 1,000 students are still on the waiting list here. well, according to fema, they ve moved 2,000 displaced people into hotel rooms. 16 people remain in shelters. the governor says about 85% of these damaged areas here in la my that have been searched by officials, but of course, david, families, so many of them, still looking for answers. david: we ll stay focused on all these families. just an incredible sight. mola, thank you. when we come back on
