HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Authorities are investigating a deadly early-morning shooting that took place in a community outside of Loris.
According to Mikayla Moskov, spokesperson for the Horry County Police Department, the shooting took place around 12:45 a.m. Friday on Hemingway Road in the Cedar Branch community outside of Loris.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden identified the victim as 16-year-old Katrina Jackson. The case is being investigated as a homicide.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) â The Horry County Coronerâs Office has identified a woman who died after a fiery crash in Nichols.
Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden said 25-year-old Rachael Lopez from the Aynor area died at the scene Sunday morning on Nichols Highway.
Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday near Secondary 23. Lee said Lopez was traveling too fast for conditions, ran off the road and hit a tree.
The Horry County Coroner s Office on Monday identified the woman killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning near Nichols.
Rachael Anne Lopez of Aynor died at the scene after crashing into a tree on Nichols Highway Sunday morning, deputy coroner Michelle McSpadden said in an email. Lopez was 25 years old.Â
South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian Lee said the wreck happened around 7:30 a.m.
Lee said a 2015 Jeep Cherokee was traveling too fast for the driving conditions. The vehicle, driven by Lopez, went off the road and struck a tree. Love
