Rally Over Andrew Brown s Death To Be Held In Asheville
(Asheville, NC) Solidarity rallies are going on today across North Carolina in connection to the death of Andrew Brown, Junior. He was fatally shot by deputies while they served a search warrant in Elizabeth City nearly six weeks ago. The nonprofit group Repairers of the Breach and the North Carolina Council of Churches are partnering to hold rallies at five this afternoon in Asheville and seven other cities in the state. The mission is to elevate the call for state and federal actions to help make the investigation transparent.

Hannah Higgins has rolled with the punches during her second pandemic-wracked school year. Now, the 16-year-old high school junior says she’s exhausted, and scared.
She first adapted to learning online, then the hybrid model, where she met up with teachers and classmates just two days a week. This month, things changed again, as Bend-La Pine Schools became the first large district in Oregon to resume in-person instruction for all grade levels, five days a week. Higgins describes each day back inside Bend’s Summit High School as a kind of endurance test.
