Thanks to the support of his family – including Michelle’s mum, Margaret – Brian was slowly able to build up his strength and was able to walk again. But in September 2020, Brian suddenly fell unwell and was rushed to hospital.

Lancaster grad reaches 2nd highest enlisted rank possible in USAF

ODENTON, MD - When Michelle Lowery graduated from Lancaster High School in 2002, she wasn t quite she where she d end up. This year, she was among the six percent selected for a promotion to the second-highest rank for enlisted personnel in the military. Lowery is currently a master sergeant in the US Air Force, stationed at Fort Meade in Maryland. She has been selected to be promoted as a senior master sergeant. She’s a superintendent of an intelligence detachment that’s part of the US Space Force, the newest military branch. “After I graduated high school, I did some odd jobs and attended Cleveland State University for a while. But I got the sense that track wasn’t for me, so I came home and looked around,” Lowery said. “When I was back in Lancaster in 2004, I knew I wanted to serve in the military, so I went to the recruitment office.”
