In what has now become a holiday tradition, Gov. Bill Lee on Friday granted executive clemency to 23 Tennesseans, including six people from Southeast Tennessee, all of whom were convicted years ago for various crimes.
NASHVILLE — A Pigeon Forge woman convicted in a brutal 2000 robbery and murder in Sevier County could soon be released after Gov. Bill Lee commuted her life sentence Friday.
(NASHVILLE) The week before Christmas, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed 23 Tennesseans executive clemency decrees. One was from Rutherford County: Cheryl Douglas received a pardon in this executive action. Legally, a pardon is an official statement of forgiveness. It is granted to individuals who have completed their time in prison and are no longer incarcerated.
